A teenager who was granted legal aid to bring a test case on alleged school bullying has lodged papers at Aberdeen Sheriff Court.
The move marks the beginning of Natalie King's legal attempt to prove that Aberdeen City Council failed to protect her from school bullies.
It could be followed by a string of court actions about alleged bullying in Scottish schools.
Aberdeen City Council said it would vigorously defend the action.
Ms King's family said they had recorded 700 incidents of her being bullied at four different Aberdeen schools since the age of six.
Ms King, from Newmachar, Aberdeenshire, has now begun full-time office work and has welcomed the start of the sheriff court action.
Her lawyer, Cameron Fyfe, said he had 30 similar cases across Scotland.
The issues in the test case were "so important" that he would now try to have the case heard at the Court of Session in Edinburgh.
He said the basis of the case was an allegation of breach of duty of care.
