Glasgow has been named as a frontrunner in broadband

Glasgow has been named one of the top seven intelligent communities for broadband and technological advance.
The city has been recognised for its efforts to help its population and business community keep up with the digital age.
Glasgow's bid for 2003 was put forward by Scottish Enterprise Glasgow and the city council.
The New York-based Intelligent Community Forum (ICF) judged broadband impact on economic growth during its considerations.
The ICF was formed in response to the upsurge in broadband communications.
The not-for-profit think tank said those who made up its list were "pioneers and role models for the development of vibrant digital age communities in the 21st century".

Ron Culley, of Scottish Enterprise Glasgow, said the city should be proud of the technological strides it had made.
He said: "This achievement represents a real boost for everyone engaged in helping Glasgow ensure that its communities and businesses take full advantage of the opportunities presented in technology."
ICF chairman John G Jung said: "Our top seven represent a range of different models, some significant top-down government support, while others depend on private-sector participation, local culture and a more grass-roots approach."
The city will receive its award during a ceremony in New York in June.
