Team tackles NHS managers' row
There has been in-fighting in the local NHS
A group of troubleshooters has been drafted in to resolve a local dispute between Scottish NHS managers.
The decision by Health Minister Malcolm Chisholm follows a request for outside assistance by John Mullin, chairman of NHS Argyll and Clyde. Mr Mullin said there was a need to "resolve a number of problems" which have come to light in recent months.
The group will also include Neil Campbell, chief executive of NHS Grampian, and accountant Cameron Revie. Health services in the area consist of one health board and three trusts, each with its own chairman and chief executive. Mr Chisholm said: "There have been well-publicised difficulties at senior level within and between the three trusts and NHS board. "And it is clear that solutions must be found to promote patients' interests and to accelerate the improvement of health services for the people of Argyll and Clyde." 'High-calibre team' Mr Chisholm said people in the area deserved the best leadership in their health service. He added: "We expect the group to be in place very soon and start providing the support and advice which NHS Argyll and Clyde needs." "There is a big challenge ahead and I want to give the board every assistance to meet it." Mr Mullin said: "We need to resolve a number of problems which have been highlighted over recent months. "This group offers exactly the type of expertise we require to take things forward. "It is important that these underlying issues are resolved very quickly for the benefit of everyone in Argyll and Clyde." |
