Lard mountain goes on show
Fattening up: young people in Britain eat 11% too much fat
British children have been criticised for eating too much fat and not doing enough exercise to burn off the extra calories.
In the past year, the Science Museum in London surveyed 4,000 of its younger visitors to find out about their eating habits.
To try to stop this, the museum has come up with what could be described as shock tactics. An exhibition in the shape of a lard mountain will now greet those who pass through the Science Museum's doors. The lard stack weighs in at 328kg. The organisers say this is the amount a typical British child will consume between the ages of six and 16.
