ITV's Bob and Rose has won two key prizes at the 10th annual Indie Awards, honouring the best of independent productions.

The series, made by Red Productions, won the award for best drama and best indie programmme.

It starred Alan Davies and Lesley Sharp and was a hit with critics yet had mixed audience figures.

Banzai, made by Radar TV and RDF Media, won the award for best light entertainment programme at the awards, held at the BBC's Television Centre in London.

The awards, in 16 categories, were voted for by members of the independent producers' organisation, Pact, and presented by comedienne Jenny Eclair.

This year's judges included BBC One controller Lorraine Heggessey, Channel 4 head of entertainment and comedy Danielle Lux and Channel 5 director of programmes Kevin Lygo.

The best children's programme award also went to an ITV show - Blaze Television's SM: tv.

The new media award went to Victoria Real for creating the Big Brother website.

Last year was Big Brother's year at the Indie Awards.

The Channel 4 show won the main Indie Award for best independent production of the year, the light entertainment prize and the new media prize for its work in bringing the internet and TV together.
