It was originally announced the rock band's gig on 11 June would be the first event at the stadium but an extra date of 10 June has been added.

AEG Live has said sorry to those who bought tickets expecting to be among the first to experience a concert at Wembley Stadium.

The stadium has taken six years to rebuild at a cost of £458m.

'Fabulous arena'

AEG senior vice president Rob Hallett said: "We took the view, given the band's massive popularity, that it was better to please all their true fans that couldn't get tickets than disappoint a tiny minority who just wanted to be able to say they had been to the first show at Wembley.

"The new stadium is going to be a fabulous arena - but wherever, whenever Bon Jovi play they deliver a fantastic experience."

The stadium is due to open in May with the final of the FA Cup.

Among other bands already booked to play at Wembley are the newly-reformed Take That on 24 June, the Rolling Stones in August and Robbie Williams in September.
