Work on HMS Vanguard was completed last month

HMS Victorious will be the second of four submarines to be refitted at Devonport over the next seven years.

She left her home port of Faslane in Scotland on Thursday to make the four-day trip to Plymouth.

The Victorious will undergo an overhaul and be refuelled. Work on her sister submarine, HMS Vanguard, was completed last month.

A dedicated dock was built at Devonport Dockyard to do the work as part of a £5bn contract.

The 16,000-tonne subs, which form the backbone of the nation's nuclear deterrent, are berthed in specially-converted 9 dock because they are too big for the base's other docks.
