Rugby legend helping new charity
Jonah Lomu
Jonah Lomu is the best-known sufferer of the condition
New Zealand rugby union star Jonah Lomu has agreed to represent a charity set up by a Stratford-on-Avon man.

The ex-All Black player is ambassador for the Nephrotic Syndrome Trust, started by Dave Yearsley after his son was diagnosed with the kidney disorder.

The condition caused Lomu to stop playing rugby in 2003.

The trust is thought to be the only charity funding research into the incurable disorder, which affects 10,000 people in the UK each year.

Lomu was present at the charity's launch at Twickenham on Monday.

A kidney transplant has enabled the 29-year-old to start playing rugby again.

Fundraising for the charity will begin with a memorabilia auction on eBay, starting on 2 June.
