New plan to improve M1 junction
The project aims to reduce congestion at the junction
A £100m project to improve Junction 19 on the M1, near the Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Warwickshire borders, has been approved.
The project aims to improve safety and reduce congestion at this key east-west road junction. The improved links and motorway connections will help meet the growth of the communities of Corby, Kettering and Wellingborough. Transport minister John Spellar, who announced the plan on Wednesday, said: "This junction is of major importance regionally and nationally. "It is a vital intersection linking three of our most strategic roads. "These improvements will improve traffic flow and safety and will bring real benefits to motorists. "I am pleased that we have been able to press ahead with this scheme."
